I have compiled a list of solutions to errors and issues that players of Planet Zoo are experiencing. The most common Planet Zoo problems are crashes, black screen, low fps, stuttering, game not launching, mouse issues and other bugs. You can see a list of all the fixes to known issues below. Mouse and Keyboard Camera Rotation Bug
If your W,A,S,D keys or mouse getting stuck when you try to rotate camera of game, you can use commands to fix it. Here’s how to fix mouse and keyboard camera rotation bug in Planet Zoo.
- Go to the list of games in the Steam library.
- Right-click thePlanet Zooand click theProperties.
- Click theSet Launch Optionsin theGeneraltab.
- Type or paste the following commands into the box in the incoming window.
-legacykeyboard 1 -legacymouse 1
Also, you should disable the Steam Overlay.
Fix to Crashing on Start
Method #2.1
- Firstly, disable the Steam Cloud synchronization.
- After that you should delete your save files. Don't forget, you will lose all of your progress. Back it up before deleting. Navigate to C:\Users\*YourUserName*\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Zoo\
- Delete all files in the Planet Zoo folder.
Method #2.2
Try to exit background programs such asSpotify, MSI Afterburner,EVGA Precision X1,RTSSRivatuner,ASUS GPU Tweak II, Fraps, Discord, Skype, Keyboard&Mouse software, Nvidia GeForce Experience, AutoHotKey, script apps.
Method #2.3
Start Windows in safe mode or disable some of the services.
- Type themsconfigon Windows search box.
- Press Enter key
- Go to theServicestab.
- Select “Hide all Microsoft services”
- Click on the “Disable all” button.
- Finally click on the OK button.
- Restart the PC.
Method #2.4
Update your GPU drivers and verify the files of Planet Zoo.
- Go to the Steam library
- Right-click on thePlanet Zoo,go toProperties.
- Go to the LOCAL FILES tab
- Press theVERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILESbutton.
Method #2.5
Try to start the Planet Zoo in windowed mode.
- Go to the list of games in the Steam library.
- Right-click thePlanet Zooand click theProperties.
- Click theSet Launch Optionsin theGeneraltab.
- Type or paste the following command into the box in the incoming window.
-windowed
Method #2.6
If it is possible, I recommend set your monitor refresh rate to 30Hz for a temporary fix. You can also change the refresh rate on "Change resolution" tab of NVIDIA Control Panel.
Method #2.7
- Update your OS. InWindows 10, click on theStarticon.
- Go toSettings
- Click on theUpdate & Security.
- Check for updates.
- If you are usingWindows 7, go tohttps://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36805
- Click onDownloadbutton.
- Select theWindows6.1-KB2670838-x64.msu
- Click onNext
- Install it after download.
Also, I suggest you update all other drivers too. (GPU, Bios, Audio, Lan, Chipset)
Method #2.8
Uninstall all of the Microsoft Visual C++ in the Windows Apps & features menu. Then, reinstall them. You can use the "All in One Runtimes" tool.
- Download the “All in One Runtimes Download” tool.
- Run the exe application.
- Click on the “Installieren” button.
- Install/repair all runtimes.
Crashes while Gameplay
Method #3.1
If your game crashes while gameplay or loading, probably your save bugged. I suggest you start the game with a new save.
Method #3.2
You should also update your GPU drivers and run the game as an administrator. And also, go to the video settings in Planet Zoo and make sure you are using the fullscreen mode. After that exit the game and follow these steps.
- Go to the folder where the game is installed.
- Right-click on thePlanetZoo.exeapplication
- Hit theProperties
- Tick“Disable full-screen optimizations”and "Run this program as and administrator" on the Compatibility tab.
- After that, click on the “Change high DPI settings” button.
- Under the “High DPI scaling override” section, tick the “Override high DPI scaling behavior“
- Use the “Scaling performed by:” drop-down menu and select the “Application”
- Click on theOK and againOK.
Method #3.3
Disable your antivirus and set the graphics settings lower.
Black Screen on Launch
If you get black screen when you try to launch Planet Zoo, the graphics drivers may cause this.
Keep your computer’s graphics drivers updated. People who have anNVIDIAgraphics card can download and install their new drivershere.
People who have anAMDgraphics card can download and install their new drivershere.
You need to useDDUto completely uninstall the graphics drivers.
Stuck on Main Menu
Method #5.1
If your game freezes on the main menu, start the Steam in offline mode. Then run the Planet Zoo. It works for some of players.
Method #5.2
Disable your Antivirus & Firewall software.
Method #5.3
When your game freezing, press ALT+Tab and go to the Task Manager. Select the Planet Zoo on Task Manager and click on the End task button. After that try to run the Planet Zoo again.
Low FPS Issue
